Is this watch winder right for you?
What is a watch winder for an automatic watch?
A watch winder is a motorised case that continuously rotates an automatic watch (a mechanical watch wound by motion) when it is not being worn, so that it stays on time and running without needing to be wound by hand.
Why it is necessary: an automatic watch winds itself through an internal rotor that captures the movements of the wrist and tensions the barrel spring. Without motion (left in a drawer), the spring unwinds within 24 to 72 hours depending on the power reserve, and the watch stops. The time and date then have to be reset, a real inconvenience on watches with complications (perpetual calendar, moon phase), where the adjustment can take several minutes or even require a watchmaker.
How it works: the winder imitates this wrist motion through programmable rotation, with a number of turns per day (TPD, generally 650 to 1950 depending on the watch brand) and a direction of rotation (clockwise, anticlockwise or bidirectional), settings that must match the specifications of the watch's movement so as not to over- or under-wind it.
Secondary benefit: it also keeps the internal lubricants evenly distributed, which limits premature wear on valuable watches that are not worn daily.

Frequently asked questions about this model
How many turns per day (TPD) should you set?
TPD is the number of rotations the watch winder puts your watch through over 24 h.
Too few, and the watch runs down and eventually stops; too many is not harmful (an automatic cannot be “overwound”) but pointless.
The aim is to find the lowest setting that keeps your watch on time. The method: first wind the watch by hand, place it on the watch winder set to 700 TPD, and check after 1 to 2 days. If it keeps time, you are done; if it loses time, go up one step.
Which direction of rotation should you choose?
Depending on the watch, the mechanism winds by turning in one direction or in both. If you do not know yours, choose alternating mode: it turns in both directions, so it suits every watch. This is the recommended default setting. You only set a specific direction (clockwise or anticlockwise) if your watch's manual says so.
Is the watch winder silent?
Yes. The motor was selected for its discreet operation, designed to sit in a bedroom, dressing room or office without any disturbing noise.
What is the warranty, and how does after-sales service work?
All our watch winders come with a 2-year warranty. Should any issue arise, our France-based customer service team assists you directly, a point that sets us apart from resellers with no identified after-sales service.
Does my automatic watch really need a watch winder?
A watch winder keeps your automatic watch in motion when you are not wearing it. This prevents it from stopping, spares you resetting the time every time, and preserves the regularity of the movement, which is particularly useful for watches with complications (date, moon phase, GMT) that take time to reset.
Are your products available in store?
