What is a watch winder for an automatic watch?

A watch winder serves three purposes:

Functional: keeping the watch on time and ready to wear at all times, without having to wind it by hand and then reset the time, the date, or even the moon phase on the most elaborate complications.
Mechanical: avoiding repeated handling of the crown, which puts strain on the mechanism and can wear it prematurely.
Presentation: displaying and showcasing a piece or a collection, like a living presentation case.

Frequently asked questions about this model

How many turns per day (TPD) should I set?

TPD is the number of rotations the watch winder puts your watch through over 24 h.

Too few, and the watch runs down and eventually stops; too many is not harmful (an automatic cannot be “overwound”) but pointless.

The aim is to find the lowest setting that keeps your watch on time. The method: first wind the watch by hand, place it on the watch winder set to 700 TPD, and check after 1 to 2 days. If it keeps time, you are done; if it loses time, go up one step.

Which direction of rotation should I choose?

Depending on the watch, the mechanism winds by turning in one direction or in both. If you do not know yours, choose alternating mode: it turns in both directions, so it suits every watch. This is the recommended default setting. You only set a specific direction (clockwise or anticlockwise) if your watch's manual says so.

Is the watch winder quiet?

Yes. The motor was selected for its discreet operation, designed to sit in a bedroom, dressing room or office without any disturbing noise.

What is the warranty, and how does after-sales service work?

All our watch winders come with a 2-year warranty. Should any issue arise, our France-based customer service team assists you directly, a point that sets us apart from resellers with no identified after-sales service.

Does my automatic watch really need a watch winder?

A watch winder keeps your automatic watch in motion when you are not wearing it. This prevents it from stopping, spares you resetting the time every time, and preserves the regularity of the movement, which is particularly useful for watches with complications (date, moon phase, GMT) that take time to reset.
